    CI Sealed Element Air Cleaner

    Hi all,

On original single four air cleaners with replaceable elements, the base has a tang that fits into the carburetor to keep it from spinning around. This keeps the depressions on the base lined up with the carburetor mechanisms so there will be no impingement.

However, I've never noticed a tang on the sealed element ones, even on some that were "supposed" to be original. So, do the original sealed element air cleaners have the tang?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    My original 1955 sealed

air cleaner has no provision for positioning. Until the nut is tight, I can spin it around.
