C2 Cleaning a Wiring Harness - Need Advice

Underhood harness is in pretty good condition, with all clips etc. Should I use new tape or simply clean it up? What works, but won't damage it?

    Thanks

I put one in a dishwasher once. Came out beautiful. Looked new. G-Friend wasn't home at the time. I'm not recommending this, just thought I'd pass it along.

Michael, I'm telling pretty girlfriend what u did. I put distributor caps in the dishwasher when wife not home. They come out pretty. Been doing it for yours. When I had a resturant used to put FI parts in commercial dishwashing late at nite when joint was closed. Came out clean. Don't imagine health inspector would have approved though. John

Simple Green cleaner and a terry cloth towel. If that doesn't clean it well enough, I would use turpentine, not lacquer thinner, to gently wipe the harness bundle.

          Sounds 'funky' but...

I've found a spritz of WD40 followed by hand wipe with a clean cloth does wonders for both electrical wires as well as Shark era vac lines...

John - I was wondering why the FI units you rebuild look clean enough to eat off of. I use the dishwash to clean headlamps. Makes those T-3s look like new. Pete

Peter, Used to pay a friend .50 to 1.00 for every T3 bulb he brought me. He used to scour all the junk yards in the sticks. Brought me huge boxes of old T3's When wife wasn't home put them in the dishwasher also. Sold them cheep at the flea markets for many years. Had to do something to make money as FI is labor of love.
Have a question for old friend Peter. Will you be selling ORANGE plugs at Boston show next week? I understand that ORANGE is the correct color and that red is incorrect. Hope you get rich selling ORANGE plugs Peter. heeeee John

If you tell the "Kelly Girl" about my dishwasher parts cleaning episodes, I'm gunna lie and tell her you were the guy that was arrested for poisoning pigeons in the park.

Wiring harnesses come out looking almost new with no dulling of the tape associated with solvent cleaning. I was impressed. I hang them outside in the sun for days just to make sure all of the water has evaporated from inside. I suppose the dry cycle in the dishwasher would do that too?

Jerry - Looks like the older carbureted model dish (i mean parts) washer. I hear the newer ones are fuel injectioned, run much cleaner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pete
