Can anyone suggest something other than the chemical paint removers that have methlyene chloride in them to remove paint from some small metal parts? The methylene chloride is a carcinogen. Thanks.

Re: Paint Removal
Try bead blasting. If you don't have a b/b cabinet put the parts in a 1 gallon paint can, fill it with blasting sand and take it to your local paint shop and have them put it in their paint shaker for a while. Everything comes out nice and shiny. Then there's always the old standby, your bench grinder with a wire wheel.

Re: Paint Removal
I consider a quality bead blast cabinet an indispensable restoration tool...a good cabinet, however, will be an effective, but expensive way to reduce your cancer risk. You can reduce the cost by looking into bench (no legs) cabinets, and by shopping at Harbor Freight.- Top

Re: Paint Removal
I run "Black Beauty" in my cabinet or glass beads, depending on the material I'm cleaning.Sand is another problematic cleaning media. When I assembled my cabinet, I also siliconed every seam as I was bolting it together. Messy, but now my cabinet has minimal dust issues. I have not chemically stripped a part since I got the cabinet. Valuable tool for an older resto project. My bench grinder with steel and brass wire wheels is also a good tool.- Top

One More Suggestion
Buy a big enough one so that all your friends and club members can use it.
Nice guy that I am, I'll bring up some of my crummier parts so that you can try out the blaster and make sure it works.- Top
