Just thought I would post my experience/observations. My shifter console (what was left of it) was a bit rough. So, I found a nice original dark blue one that someone dyed or sprayed a funny shade of blue. The blue I wanted was under the paint and it looked in real nice condition other wise. I tried all my usual stuff to soften it (409 spray) and scrub the paint off. Nothing was working. I din't want to kill the vinyl. So I remember someone saying I should try brake fluid?? Well, I applied it and let it sit about 15 minutes and it the dye/paint started to come off. Worked very well and didn't turn into a gooie mess and it didn't harm the vinyl. I sort of gently scratched at it with my finger nail and it started to come off all over the place. Worked best when I just let it sit and work on the paint a while. I would be careful using it on anything but it did work for me. I now have a nice original dark blue 68 consol that looks beautiful! Terry
