    1970 4 spd backup switch

Would anyone know the current pt.# for a 1970 4spd equipped backup light switch? Would the original switch still be available or is it a service replacement part?

Re: 1970 4 spd backup switch

    William------

The original switch and the last available switch from GM was GM #1993430. It's GM-discontinued. However, a virtually perfect reproduction is available from suppliers like Dr. Rebuild and many others. I believe that the reproduction is manufactured on the original tooling for the part. I will not guarantee that there is not some difference in some nuance.

William www.volvett.com has what you need for about $55. The picture looks like the same backup light switch that is on my 68. This switch is for the 68-78 Corvetts, it could be available from a GM dealer as well.

The correct URL for Volunteer is

www.volvette.com. Jim indadvertantly dropped the "e" at the end of volvette.

I was hoping an original part was still available. The "one piece fits all" usually doesn't. This is just a driver and not a show car so originality isn't a big concern. I was just looking for fit. I saw that CC is selling one that fits 68-78 for $69.95 so I'll look into the $55.00 one. Thanks for the quick response guys.

I'd virtually guarantee that they are both selling you the same part, but at different prices. The old Corvette market "usually" isn't large enough for 2 suppliers to tool up for a part like this.

Thanks Patrick. I've already put my order in at Volunteer Vettes. The $15.00 I saved over CC will pay for a plug wire somewhere down the road. I've never heard of them before now so I also requested a catalog.
