    63 Coupe overdoor weatherstrip screws

Need your help once more. First one to send in correct answer gets free orange plug.
1963 Coupe overdoor weatherstrip screws. THis weatherstrip attaches to the side of the roof. Here is what's on the car for the moment.
Blackend phillips head-slightly domed with tiny built in flat washer as part of the head. So I ordered another set as restorer says my screws not real deal. Says they are later style. So the new repro bag comes in and it's the same as on car. Slightly domed with built in tiny washer or flat area that is part of the domed phillipss head. If these are in fact correct for 63 what does '64-67 use? LI Sect 42 04C Coupe overdoor weatherstrip screw set-63 only. Remember years ago buying these screws from Walters and they are the same as above. Guys look at the door and say wrong screws. Should they just be a flat head?? Thanks, John

John, the screws that Dave Walters sold were not correct-just a serviceable replacement. I don't know about 63s but 64-67 used a black phillips head, flat with a slight bevel on the edge-no built in flat washer. The only place in the car they were used was the coupe weatherstrip on the body over the doors.

John it sounds like you are describing the correct screw but i sent you a pic of what a rear one looks like. To answer your last question = NO they are not flat.

Re: 63 Coupe overdoor weatherstrip screws

Anyone ever notice that the end screws are not always the same as the rest? I have no idea why this occured but it's pretty well documented on a lot of original unrestored cars.

Ken and Robert, Thanks for the answers. Since neither one was completely correct. No orange plug. hee. Robert, Please post your pic on DB. I got it and I see the subtle difference finally between 63 and 64-67. But I am sure all the DB members would like to see this pic.
Peter, please send each of the guys an orange plug and put it on my bill. I'll pay in Boston (hopefully) Thanks, John

Ok, we'll save that for another time. Just thought I'd add a little more confusion to the mix. Sure is fun trying to figure out what really happened to these cars on the line instead of what was "supposed" to happen.

John glad it helped but Michael Hanson is the only guy I know smart enough to post pics. Concerning the orange plug, I really don't need it because I have 63s that DONT use plugs ,so give it to Ken. I could use another transmission case refinished !!!!, Bob

Michael, Now you started it. Which end screw. Right or left or both. What kind of screw did they use. Was i a typical phillips head machine screw with fat head. Peter gonna run out of orange plugs if this keeps up. John

Re: 63 Coupe overdoor weatherstrip screws

Only tranny case Jr refinish is for your granny. Sorry you were not able to supply the correct info on the correct screws for the weatherstrip to roof panel. Correct answer is there were two kind of screws holding it on. Only MH knows the answer. I just got a note from an original owner and he said his 'strips have two kind of screws. The end ones are not the same as the inners. Say out of 7 screws per side there are two different screws. End ones not the same as 5 in center.
Orange plug offer retracted cause no correct complete answers. Jr.
