C1 Trunk Lid Fit

What is the secret to get the trunk lid to fit into the corners near the bumpers? Mine has a gap I can put my fingers in with the lid shut. It fits well everywhere but in the bottom corners. Thanks, Jimmy

By any chance, have you just replaced the weatherstripping lately? Mine fit great, then I replaced the w/s and had similar problem for a while. Then it settled in better. Almost normal now again after a few months of compression from being closed.

I have the same problem with the trunk lid on my 56. As I understand, the early cars were notorious for this "misfit". I was told that I would just have to live with it. So, I have, for 33yrs!

The trunk has always been a problem till 57 when they got better.
