    '63-'64 'Vette Carpet Heel-Pad Dimensions

I have a new 1963-1964 80/20 Loop Carpet Set for sale. So, this afternoon, I took a few photo's to add to my item description post on EBay.

After comparing my photo of the driver's side carpet with heel-pad to those pictures in several of the available 'mid-year' Corvette catalogs, I ended up very confused regarding the correct dimensions for the heel-pad.

The outside dimensions of the heel-pad on the carpet-set for sale are: 9 1/2" tall (with an added 1 1/2" by 3 3/4" at the top right where the gas-pedal mounts) by 12 3/4" wide.

The original heel-pad in my '63 (3x) Coupe measures 4" tall by 12 3/4" wide with the added 1 1/2" by 3 3/4" at the top right where the gas-pedal mounts through the carpet and to the fiber-glass floor.

Given that I do not know 'beans' about correct mid-year carpet sets, I'd sincerely appreciate your help in identifying the correct description, i.e., coupe/vertible, '63 or '64 or whatever for this set I have for sale.

Well Pete here is the dim of a Mar 64 Conv, original one. I will explain dim a little differently,
Assume the pad is in the shape of a capital "L"
The leading edge of the L is 13" long. the top of the L is 4 1/8", the bottom of the L is 5 7/8" The lower leg of the L - top is 4 5/8 while bottom is the 4 1/8 as previously mentioned, therfore the extension of the L (gas peddle area) extends about 1 1/4" (close enought to your 1 1/2)
Have found that the original pad only has a grain affect on the raised areas with the recessed areas between the raised bands (1/4" wide) smooth as is the outside area where the stitching is.

Again, this is only for one case.

Thank you Alan for making the time and effort to measure the dimensions of the carpet heel-pad on your original '64 Convertible.

I remain perplexed regards the heel-pad size/dimensions on this new carpet set I have for sale. If curious, check out the following for a photo of the heel-pad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT

If any other member here is able to shed any 'light' on this seemingly confusing (to me) matter, please let me know.

      Best Regards,

      Pete

Re: Creative way to troll for bidders Pete..

          Hi Tracy,

Seriously, I'm more interested in making sure this carpet set description is accurate for the intended application. I also wish to sell this carpet set as I've represented same on EBay. I seriously want to accurately describe the actual features of this carpet set.

Please give me a 'break' here as I have no intention whatsoever other than to determine the validity of same. My sincere apologies to all members here if I have exceeded the boundary's of well-intentended and honest communication on this forum.

Please understand I'm not 'trolling' for potential bidders as a result of my original post on this subject ... I'm only trying to determine the validity of same so I'm able to describe accurately.

You are correct ... my message read as a 'plug' to sell this item ... and for that, I apologize for my mistake.

          My Best Regards,

          Pete
