    69 BB Fuel Pump & Pushrod

    I have a 69 427 3955270 block. I am having difficulty installing the fuel pump. The engine is at TDC on the #1 piston. The fuel pump I am using is 6440659, type 40482. I cannot get the pump installed because the pushrod, while moved as far as possible toward the cam, does not have enough clearance. I have tried a small block fuel pump (type 40956) and this pump installs fine. Are there different size fuel pump pushrods for small and big blocks? Can I use a SB fuel pump? Any ideas on why the BB fuel pump will not fit? I have also tried rotating the engine several degrees without success. Thanks

          Same pushrod for mouse and Rat motors, but you need the rat motor pump. turnn the engine over with your finger pushing the rod up against the cam unitl you find the least length of shaft exposed, the pump should install then.
