Ops check @ Boston Regionals

I'm entering my '72 for the first time at a Regional Event. There is an Ops check that I have to go through. I don't recall an ops check at the Chapter Event I did a while back. What does the Ops check entail? My reverse lights aren't working correctly - is this going to be a problem?

Only 25 points worth! OPS is the first section of the Judging guide, and represents "free" points to those who have read the manual, (or the owners manual) and prepared the car to perform as described. Don't forget the Theft alarm, and remember to clean the ground where the alarm horn contacts the frame, even if it works now! (Don't ask me how I know this)

Quite a bit, actually. Front and back of a piece of paper, single spaced, one item per line at 25 points per line....

Like Bill says, if you read the JG as well as the points sheets (available via PDF file from Roy Sinor) they can be free or very cheap points.

Ops check verify's operation of lights, turn signal, horn, radio, clock, gauges, alarm system, manual transmission reverse lock-out, ease of starting, leaking fluids & exhaust, door locks, and window operation.

Operations items are 25 points each, and most are pass/fail; just one item (like a lighter that doesn't "pop" or washers that don't work) will result in a larger deduction than LOTS of smaller deductions elsewhere. Focus on Operations items first - they have the greatest potential for point loss than almost anything else on the car.

Ohh, I think I see. The Regionals run from Thurs-Sat. They will do ALL the Op's checks on Thursday outside the convention center & the rest of the judging will be held indoors (Saturday in my case).

I though this Op's check was more like a state safety inspection to make sure your car's brakes are OK, horn works, etc...

The OPS checks will be done outside the convention center on Thursday. In the afternoon the cars/owners will photographed outside and then the car will be placed inside the convention center until they are released at about 4 PM Saturday. Good Luck w/ your OPS. As mentioned they are the least expensive points you can get.

Weather shows RAIN on Thursday... Alternate Plan in effect, Under Tent? Or you going to do it the Old New England way...in the rain?
