connecting matching # engine with car

What is the best way to re-connect an original Corvette engine with its
current owner? It seems like someone in the New England states was keeping
a listing or survey, I think his name was Ed Mcgee or something like that.
I just found and original 1965 Corvette "HU" engine with the partial VIn still
    stamped on the pad.
I plan to try the Driveline are there any other sggestions?
    Thanks
    Tim

I have suggested more than once that the National Corvette Museum could be involved in keeping a database of "found" engines, etc. and cars missing their original engines.

Never got much interest from them. They didn't see the revenue potential.

Post on some of the bigger Corvette related web sites as well. CorvetteForum, CorvetteActionCenter, C2Registry, Vetteheads, etc.

There must be a lot for these cases. I got a 66 425 horse block with the original pad and vin also.

      To bad

Register just the engine on the C2 Registry under the vin stamped on the pad. The owner might contact you one day and be VERY happy!

Ofcourse if the car registered already you can try to get in touch with him/her right away!

          greetings,
          Rob.

I bet a large percentage of original Corvette blocks floating around out there by themselves are orphans, i.e. they came from cars that have since met the crusher. But I'm just guessing.
