What year C2 are you working on? The 63-65 brake line runs along the top of the frame rail, so you will need to have the body up off the frame to replace. The brake line was relocated along the side of the frame rail in 66, so you should be able to replace it on a 66-67.
It is fairly easy. There is one snag. The front mounting clip is to close to the body at the last bolt on the frame near the firewall. I cut the clip, bent it out, replaced the line, and bent the clip closed. The cut is not noticable if you cut the clip at the top along the frame.
Ain't it great to have a midyear that you can work on yourself?
I managed to replace the line in my 67 while the body was on the frame, but it was VERY close getting the clamp bolts backed out of the frame side rail. As I recall, it was possible to get a wrench on the bolts and turn them about 1/4 turn at a time, but when the bolts backed out the heads hit the floor pan of the body at just about the same time as the threads disengaged.
I was lucky and managed to get mine out, but my guess is that on another car with different assembly tolerances it might not be possible.
Thanks guys. I did recently change the body mounts and recall that I had to jack up the body at one point to get clearance to work & it wasn't too bad of a job. Since they are new mounts I know I won't have to worry about rusty bolts.
I was concerned with the clearance around the rear frame kick up. That wasn't a problem for both of you?
Thank you again,
Brian
