    C2 Idler Arm Configuration

Hey guys! I'm replacing the idler arm on my 65 with an NOS example. The replacement part had a felt seal. I see the parts vendors sell a felt seal and a plastic washer. My NOS part does not have the felt seal and plastic washer with it, but that could easily have been lost over the years. The AIM does not list these parts either. I seem to recall the felt seal as being correct, but can't remember a plastic washer. What is the correct configuration?

    Thanks as always!

Don the order is Idle arm, rubber washer, plastic washer, tie rod.

Do some searches, try "mid year idler arm bolts" I have a list of Idle arm info, but no dates. The previous search wording may lead you to all that info?

And yes there was a plastic washer on my original 64 idler arm, no claim on any other year or car.

PS where did you find yours and are any more around??? Save your old one!

Thanks Alan. I just wanted to confirm the original configuration. I searched the archives but came up dry.

I picked up the NOS idler arm on ebay over a year ago. I was very pleased to win the auction as hard as these are to come by.

      Thanks!

        Don------

Your arm originally had the felt washer and plastic washer. However, these parts were never supplied with the idler arm assembly. They were always supplied as seperate parts. However, they're long-gone from GM. I think that Dr. Rebuild has them, though.
