    C1 - Air Cleaner Contents

Any tips on replacing the copper shreaded material from the inside of a '59 2x4 air cleaner and switching to a shreaded steel material? What kind of material should I use? Is a coarse steel wool sufficient for the judges?
    Thanks....

    Why don't you just use

shredded copper? When I found a correct original 55 oil cap in a junkyard, it had been out in the weather so long the copper was disintegrating, which would have been very bad for the engine. I pulled it all out, and repacked it with part of a copper/bronze potscrubber pad from the supermarket. Just unwind the pad into a strip and pack it in. The hardest part was getting it in through one of the vent holes in the cap, but it didn't take more than a few minutes once I got the hang of it.
