I know this may seem like an easy question, you know, one of those that will make you go duh!!! but I just want to make sure before I go breaking anything because this is an original part. Better safe than sorry when it comes to this stuff.

How do I get wiper actuator off the actuator arm without tearing it up? Do I just unscrew it from the black adjustment nut? Or should I try and get the actuator arm off at the wiper door?

Also as I said this is the original actuator is there any way to clean it up? Its all oxidized and dull looking.

I like the original patena on the canister. I personally would leave it alone. You can buy a replacement and save your old one.

That long black adjusting nut has threads that are in oposite direction on each end. Works like a turn buckle (I think that is the right term). In any case, you just unscrew it. If it is turning easy, count yourself very lucky. They like to turn hard and then everything gets broken. So, as you unscrew that long nut from the actuator shaft, it will unscrew from the wiper door actuator

But,I would remove the two nuts that hold the canister to the bracket first and protect it from getting banged up. I think this is a good idea because the other end of the long black nut attaches to the wiper door and it is somewhat easy to break off Also, if you don't loosen the actuator from the bracket, it will start to push against the mechanism and potentially break something. Just don't force anything because the wiper door mechanism is fragile. It is a little awkward to do. I would put a light coat of lithium grease or grease on the thread when you put it back together.
