    63 fuel pump

    Hi all,

I've purchased a fuel pump via e-Bay which is claimed to be a 4657 pump. I was expecting the pump finish to be some sort of zinc/cad color but this one is more goldish. Is this the correct pump?

More pics of the pump can be found via:

You thoughts are valuable for me?

    greetings,
    Rob

      Re: 63 fuel pump

I was already worried this was going to happen some day. Sending it back is not really worthwhile (paid 60$ for is + probably 20$ shipment and 24 euro's taxes) so sending it back is no use.

I better keep it as a spare/backup part to be used during roadtours... ;-(

      greetings,
      Rob.

                Rob-----

As Mike says, this is not an original fuel pump, at all. It's some sort of "generic" unit. Of course, even the fuel pumps that you get in AC-Delco boxes these days are really just "generic" pumps packaged in AC-Delco boxes. GM or AC or DELPHI has not manufactured a mechanical fuel pump in about 20 years. It is interesting, though, that it has the "4657" tag on it.

Although not original, you can make it look more original and not "stand out like a sore thumb" with its irridite finish. The irridite (gold) finish can be easily removed. Just apply a weak acid like vinegar or, even, Coca Cola. If these don't work, then use a VERY dilute solution of muriatic acid.

Be very carful doing this as you just want to remove the irridite overplate and nothing more.
