CONTROL - ARM PAINT (upper +lower)

I have sand blasted and replaced the bushings on the control arms for my 72 Corvette. I was told to paint the control arms after I replace the bushings, my question is should I overspray (or how much over spray) the satin black onto the bushings to stay within the NCRS rules, and should the upper and lowers be the same? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The assemblies were originally dipped in paint so paint it all... including the washers and bolts. The balll joints were not painted

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I think the C2 era had the arms dipped as an assy(less the ball joints) but the early C3's had the bushings installed AFTER the arms were painted.

Also Robert, the arms should not be satin. They should have slightly more gloss than the frame does. Some say the frame was a satin and not pure black either...sort of a pale black but the paint under the gas tank on my 69 was more of a semi gloss and I would say almost a pure black. No I'm not color bind either:)

Get the arms as black as or blacker than the frame with a bit more gloss to them and it should be right.

          Greg,

You are correct. The C2's were painted entirely, as an assembly, but some time near the end of the 60's, the arm was painted without the shaft and associated parts. Could have been 69 or 70?
