How many different version of the simulated wood steering wheels did GM produce. I have two of these steering wheels that are completly differnt in appearance. One is supposedly off a 67 Camaro that has raised grain pattern and has a solid brown finish. The other one is off a 67/68 Corvette that looks more like a brown walnut burl finish on it. Were both of these steering wheels offered on the 67/68 Corvettes? Thanks, Bryan

Re: Chevrolet Simulated Wood Steering Wheels
Bryan,
I don't remember exactly what the 67 Camaro steering wheel looked like but I assume it's the same as a 67 Corvette wheel? The 67 and 68 Corvette wheels are not the same. Their not even the same part number. One has a grain and the other doesn't. If I remember correctly, the 67 is the one with the grain, same as 64-66 but with a different spoke arrangement. The 68 wheel was smooth. Original 67 wheels that still have some grain left are difficult to find.- Top

Re: Chevrolet Simulated Wood Steering Wheels
Michael,
Thanks for the reply. From your description, it appears I have a 1967 GM raised grain steering wheel. It has no cracks and the grain on this steering wheel is in great shape. The only thing that would have to be done to it is to restore it to it's proper color due to the fading of the brown. Maybe I could trade it for a 68 wheel.- Top
