Can anyone point me to a resource for the cross member dent removal tool that was discussed here a while back? TIA, Mark

Re: Cross member dent removal tool?
Mark,
It's also available through Zip Products (not my favorite supplier)at http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/prod...D1909F13623B63
I bought one before they were in the Driveline and offered to the Corvette Suppliers, he sold them on the various vette forums.
The tool works great! Although I did have to modify it slightly for my cross member because the tool was too tight. I filed one of the edges slightly and the tool fell right into place. I had my frame upside down so it was relatively easy for me. I know it could be used while the frame was attached to the body but it would be a little more time consuming.
By the time I was done heating and reshaping the metal you couldn't tell the dent ever existed. Just take it slow and don't overheat the metal.
The inventor is a genius in my book!- Top

Re: Cross member dent removal tool?
I have never been call a genius. I am truly humbled!
I am sorry the tool fit so tightly. It is possible the dent was so deep that it actually pulled the sides of the front crossmember in, making it tighter than most.
If you use a torch, you must error on the side of hardly heating the steel. It will come right out. But, you don't even need to use a torch if you don't want to.
If people want more information they can contact me at tfringo@aol.com
Thank you for the nice feedback, Terry- Top
