Okay..how about a used 8000 AC tach

that anyone can send me pictures of. One they have in their possesion..not previously published pictures ( those I have ).

Also..looking for pictures of the very early 8000 AC tach fairing that covered the tach on the early cars.

A couple of years ago Chip Miller had an NOS AC 8000 tach for sale at Corvettes of Carlisle. Perhaps his son, Lance, still has the tach.

A few months ago a fellow Corvette collector in the upper mid-west passed (RIP). Associated was a big collection of several tractor trailer loads of exotic Corvette parts and a few cars that were being liquidated. I seem to recall the sale included a jpeg showing a case (of like 12) of those tachs new in one box. There were seperated with those notched tan cardboard dividers that you see in a box that has drinking glasses inside. Neeeeet. Twelve of them in one box.
I think someone in DE or MD area was the buyer. (Mikie???)

Geoffrey..actually I posted that picture..

I took the picture when I went to look at the collection for sale in Greenbay. When I saw the box on the floor with the top open..I almost had a heartattack.

Then..my heart was broken..when they actually turned out to be 80 MPH speedometers. otherwise they were very close to the vintage original 8000 AC tachs.

I actually have an NOS 8000 AC tach..and I wanted to compare it to another. My friend that is restoring an original 57 airbox car..has a faring that covered the column tach..and has a picture of the car the day it was picked up in St.Louis in May 1957..and that picture clearly shows the faring.

The only other one I can remember seeing is the faring on the tach in Bill Towers ...Bill Mitchell SR2.

Pretty rare stuff!!!..
