    72 BB, Production numbers question

Back into the C3 scence after a 10yr absence Been taking car out lately to some shows and other vette owners tell me i have a rare combo. Big Block, convertible with air. I know NCRS pocket guide shows a production of 824 big block covertibles. My vert has air and the shoulder belts. Is there any way to figure how many had air. No info found in vette vues, restoration books i have?
Thanks in advance to all, Great board here for info so i ended up joining. Hope to see some of ya at fl. events.

You can only estimate based on a percentage of each option.

In my opinion any Corvette convertible with factory air is a plus.

It's usually done by interpolation as each option has a total built qty. So, you make the ASSUMPTION (not guaranteed to have any validity whatsoever) that the spread of this option, in combination with these other options was spread uniformly across all cars built....

What about where the car was ordered, say the southern states would have ordered more convertibles with air. It was however a good price for comfort given the stereo am/fm radio cost.

That's what I thought the answer would be. The error factor in making a second assumption on top of a first assumption is exponential, is it not?

Is this a case of only 17% percent of people knowing that 64% of statistics are made up on the spot?

I agree just alot of lip and no fact to make a rare car most of the time to sell it or brag.

                        Hello Mike,
To do the math. The 1972 production breakdown 6,508 convertibles, 3,184 C-60 air comditioning convertibles, 824 LS-5 454 engine convertibles, 48.9% of the convertibles had air conditioning. The break down is 824 X 48.9 = 403 estimated
                        Regards,
                        Drew Papsun
