71 dash wiring harness

Did all harnesses have the neutrel safty switch plug for both auto trans at shift area and clutch switch area,or did you need RPO M40 for plug at shifter good question right?

There were different instrument panel harnesses for manuals and automatics; manuals accommodated the clutch safety switch on the pedal support and the transmission-mounted backup light switch wiring through the firewall, and automatics accommodated both the neutral safety switch and backup light switch in the base of the automatic shifter, among other differences.

Thats correct,but I beleive there was one harness that would have both sets of plugs for either tranny.The backup switch plug reaches both shift area for auto,and tranny for 4sp.

Jack,everything else on harness is same accept for a/c wiring right.

AC is an add on separate harness.
