    c2 - 1967 Alternator brace and bracket 427

Are all the '67 Big Block alternators (not including L88) attached in the same way?

What alternator attachment parts are still avail., if any?

    Thanks

67 Alternator bracket 427 Number in Archive

GM #3882810 is the correct alternator bracket for your non-power steering application. This piece is still available from GM (in 2002) for a current list price of $49.51 US (in 2002). Joe Lucia posted this in 2002.

Are there other parts to complete the attachment? I have nothing but the engine and the alternator...

      Tom -

The upper adjusting brace is P/N 3882812; besides the cast lower bracket, all the other bits are nuts, bolts, and washers, and a P/N 3831946 spacer. See section L36, sheet A3 in the '67 assembly manual for the illustration.

        Tom------

As John mentioned, the bracket and brace are about all you need for the alternator mounting besides fastners. Unfortunately, both the bracket that I previously mentioned and the brace that John mentions are now GM-discontinued. However, I believe that you can get both in reproduction (or, NOS) from sources like Dr. Rebuild , Paragon and others.

For a P/S application, all of the mounting brackets, braces, etc. are completely different. So, if you ever intend on converting to p/s, the time to do it is now before you purchase the mounting pieces you need.
