1974 Coupe rug replacement

Hello,

I have decided to replace the rugs in my 1974 coupe. My question is are there any procedures or instuctions on how to do this correctly. I'm not sure what interior pieces need to be removed and which pieces of rugs need to be installed before other pieces to make it look correct. If some one could help me out on this I would appreciate it.

I expect it's like other earlier Corvettes I've worked on. You need to remove the seats, sill plates, console, rear compartment trim and lids, quarter trim panels and anything else that was installed after the carpet. As you remove the parts, bag the hardware in zip lock bags and label them. Remove the existing carpet with care noticing exactly how and in what order they were installed. A digital camera comes in real handy for most of us older folks (part of the CRS or NCRS gang).

Install the new carpet, reinstall all the components you removed and you're done. Al Knock probably sells videos showing this proceedure. Just remember this, no smoking anywhere nearby when you spray the adhesive on the floor pan for installing the new carpet!!! My '67 flamed up and scared the hebejeebees out of me. Maybe it was good though, in that it burnt off all those little loose fibers remaining from new carpet. Good luck with the installation.
