    C2: 63 Harrison Radiator tag

Looking for info from owners of 63 cars with original radiators. I'm wondering when the hard, non flexible Harrison plate was replaced with the thin foil sticker. So far, we have thick plates at least into December of 62, (62M) and thin foil stickers in March of 63. (63C) Does anyone have an original 63A or 63B radiator with the original plate/sticker? Thanks.

      Mike--

An interesting thread, because Harrison did the same thing in 62--about midyear (Jan-Feb) changed from the aluminum plate with the part number and date stamped on it to a foil tag with the date stamped on the top of the radiator itself.

Thanks Mike. That is interesting. I didn't know 62 used the foil style in later production. The 63 radiators used the thick plate at least into, or through, December of 62.

I suppose it will be difficult to figure out exactly when the thick plate ended as most original 63 radiators have been replaced years ago.

MIchael, My original 63 B radiator had the thick Harrison plate. When I installed a new rad from Chev in late 70's (dated 1976) it had the thinner decal. My old original 63 B rad is buried up in the attic. When the 63 was first restored the original rad was fine. Then we left it sit around for about 3 years with no anti-freeze in it and remember the day we put it back on the car and it leaked like Niagara Falls. Too dumb then to know. Car now had a very nice Tom DeWitt radiator in it. Went thru judging with no problem and radiator fit perfect. Looked perfect also.
You mentioned about an inspection mark that should not be on a 63 rad. That might make for an interesting post. The judges at Marlborough didn't say anything about it though. I think it is a detail that few know about. John
