    67 Master cylinder rebuild?

I have the original master cylinder on my 67 BB,can I just rebuild it or do I have to have it resleeved? It has no major leaks and works fine. THANKS

It all depends upon the condition of the master cylinder bore. If the bore is PERFECT or if it can be cleaned up with crocus cloth, you can rebuild it, as is. However, if the bore is IN ANY WAY DAMAGED, then you must have it sleeved with either brass or stainless steel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND honing of a master cylinder. Honing slightly enlarges the bore and rebuild kits and all pistons are sized for standard bores. In my experience, a honed master cylinder will not hold the high pressure required satisfactorily.

Your 1967 will use a GM cast #5455509 master cylinder (unless you have one of the 267 cars built with J-56 brakes). The GM/Delco rebuild kit for your master cylinder has been discontinued for MANY years. However, kits are available from Wagner, Raybestos, and others.
