1959 Heads

General Question, Does anyone know the serial # or the date that the heads on a 1959 went from the staggered bolts to the straight holes? Or,does anyone know the latest dated 550 heads or the earliest date on the 465 heads? Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob,

I have a set of Jan 31 1959 550 heads. I have always been told the change over took place in the April time frame. It will be interesting to see what the latest dated 550 heads are.

I have a August vin and the heads are staggered holes,i have been told that the change over was indeed in April,but if there were old heads in stock they used them first before the new ones
