'69 BB Ignition Wire Radio Shields

My '69 BB has replacement (red) silicone wires with, what appear to be, the ignition shieldings which were part of the initial assembly. I would like to replace the wires with correct ones but retain the shielding. Do the weather boots at the distributor end of reproduction (non-shielded) plug wires from 'Lectric Limited slide off? If so, I could remove the shielding from the RED wires and place them on the new reproduction wires.
