After long periods of time sitting, my clutch does not engage. If i try to start it in gear it jumps forward and if I start the car in netural then I have a very hard time shifting in gear. When I finally get it in gear it is fine until the next time I leave it sitting for a while.
Don - Sounds like the clutch disc has stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate face. Had that happen on my friends Chevy truck but we played around with it and luckly it finally broke itself loose. My first approach would be to work it a bit and see if you're lucky and have it free up. Next I'd remove the lower cover and see where it's hanging up and then gently pry and see if I could loosen the stuck side.
BTW, make sure you disconnect the battery and the coil wire.
Maybe someone else has had this experience and will respond and share their experience(s) on a fix.

My 71 was the subject of this same issue a month or 2 ago. The guys recommended I support both rearwheels off the ground with jackstands and lift trailing arms with jackstands to keep drivetrain at proper angle. Ran car at 1500 rpm and pushed clutch and break pedal at same time. It came loose immediately. Mine has not repeated sticking since. Good Luck
