Tell me your opinions. I have 2 1958 fuelies. # 1327 which still had its original standard wheels when I bought it in unrestored condition. # 2191 which came off the assembly line 3 weeks later which I also bought in unrestored condition. #2191 didn't have any of its original wheels. Here's where the questions come in. The spare tire/trunk half moon fiberglass piece on #1327 has 1 spacer (shim) between the trunk lock catch and riveted in support plate. #2191 has 3 of these spacers (shims) mounted between the trunk lock catch and support plate along with screws that are about 1/4 inch longer to compensate for the extra spacers (shims). I have read that something in the trunk latch area was moved or modified to accomadate the wider wheels. Would the differences in these two cars which were produced so close together say that one was equipped with RPO276 and the other wasn't?
RPO 276 Wide Wheels or not??

Re: RPO 276 Wide Wheels or not?? Not
Hi Justin The spacer or shim your talking or typing about I dont think has anything to do with the wide wheels its for adjusting the trunk lid to body fit. The spare tire cover board would be higher with the 15 1/2 wheels but that would have nothing to do with that lock adjustment. Man you got a nice 58 FI big brake charcoal with red and silver cove, dont get better than that Phil 8063- Top
