Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out. I purchased a early 1958 project car and was told it had the original motor, but I can't seem to figure out the block stamp. The manufacturing date on the block is J157, the casting number is 3737739, and the stamp number is FI024EB. The problem is I can't match the EB to the NCRS specs. The seller owned this car for many years and believes the engine to be original. Thanks Rich

EB for that year is 58-61 Passenger car-4 bbl-tourboglide

Would be interesting to see if it still has the original crankshaft in it - the Turboglide engines had a unique crank with a BIG recess machined where the pilot bushing would normally go, as the converter pilot on the Turboglide was huge, much larger than a Powerglide. That was the only crank Chevy ever made that was unique to a transmission usage and wouldn't work with a manual transmission.

Hi John and all.....John you're correct about the crankshaft, but I made a steel bushing that fit the crank with a hole in the center to receive the pilot bushing in my '57 210. Regards Frank
