Re: ENGINE PAD MATCHING NUMBERS ??? HELP ??
Be aware that the two sets of numbers were stamped at different times...the engine build stamp (left side of the photo) was made at engine plant in Flint, and the VIN derivative (right side of the photo) was stamped at St. Louis after the engine was selected for the car.
As Roy said, yours appears to have a secondary bounce strike...they had to whack that gang stamp pretty hard. IMO, if the numbers were NOT the same digits like they are, and clearly on a gang like the primary strike, a second set of ghost numbers might be cause for worry.- Top

Re: April Fools Day !!!!!!!! interesting LOL
Yeah...Thanks Harry. I missed the point since they kept right on making engines even on April Fools day. Some of them are bound to end up stamped with that date. I had my sense of humor and irony turned "OFF".
Of course, when looking for an imposter, checking the build date against the build year calender to see if the stamped date falls on Sunday or a recognized holiday should be SOP. In fact, April 1 fell on a Saturday in 1967...further research would be necessary to find out if they were working week ends.- Top
