    BF Goodrich radials on C2

    Members,
I am considering buying a set of BF Goodrich Control Plus radials for my '65. I'm wondering if anyone is running them on a mid-year and what kind of feedback you can share with me.

    All replies are appreciated.

    Regards,
    Gene

Have them on my 66 roadster and they run great. 7.75X15 whitewall. Cokers go on for judging.

      Dave,
Thank you for your reply to my posted tire question. I'm not sure that I understand your statement that you use the Cokers for judging. Or I don't understand the Corvette Judging Reference Manual.

Per that document, it looks like the Coker tires would receive a 40% deduction. They would seem to meet the description "Reproduction tires of non-OEM brand..."

I am considering the BF Goodrich radials because they would hopefully qualify for at least some points. They would get a 60% deduction per the JR Manual. It states Deduct 60% - Current-day OEM brand, service-replacement size, bias or radial ply tires...

Using the above deductions, it looks like the Cokers would receive 18 points and the BFG radials would receive 12. Do I understand correctly?

Thanks again for your reply, Dave.

      Regards,
      Gene

      PS
Are your BFG radials size P205/75R/15s? If so, do they fit in the spare tire tub?

The tires I use for judging are bias ply BF Goodrich labeled but manufactured by Coker Tire Co. They are reproduction tires with a DOT stamp and thus qualify as an OEM repro. and receive a 20% deduction. You can purchase the same tire now from Coker w/o the DOT stamp and recieve little to no deduction.

My Control Plus radials are 205/75 R15 and are mounted on a separate set of wheels. The car is not driven much. I keep a bias ply Coker in the tub.

        Regards,
        Dave K.

I would like an additional set of ralley wheels to mount some tires for driving. Do you know of a source for 67 ralley rims? They would not need to have any of the correct markings.

          Thank you,

          Randy

            Dave,
Thank you for your Email reply and the extra information about Coker Tires.

What confused me was I didn't know that Coker made reproduction tires with OEM brand names on them. All the Coker tires that I saw on Corvettes at Carlisle had Coker on the sidewall.

Thank you again for the information.

            Best regards,
            Gene

              Randy,
At Carlise, there was a guy whose name is Chris Johnson, from Westpoint, KY, who was selling new 15X6 power disc wheels for $50 each. $170 each if you wanted them with new center caps and beauty rings included. His business card shows telephone number 502-922-4677.

              Hope this info is helpful.

              Gene

Wheel Vintiques makes a 67 style rally in 15"x6"x3.5". You can get them from Jegs or Summit. Part #30-5634032, $62.99 a piece. I bought a set and they are USA made and high quality. When I got mine I bought the correct 67 silver paint to paint them. They were painted that exact color so there was no need for me to paint.
