Round vs. oval 74 mufflers

I just received my new replacement 21/2 inch mufflers from Eckler's for my '74. To my surprise they are almost round (71/2"H X 91/4"W X 16' L)whereas the ones on the car are oval and are barely visable from the side and back. If the new mufflers are correct I can see why they used a black out paint.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the stock '74 21/2" mufflers? I want to be sure these are the right ones.

The almost round mufflers you got are about the size they were. I have a set from corvette central that are about that size. I will check in the morning but I think you have the correct part.

You have the correct mufflers as far as external configuration is concerned. The 63-72 Corvette mufflers were an "oval" shape. However, this changed for 1973-74. The 73-74 mufflers were nearly round (not completely and perfectly round but a lot more round than oval).
