C2 Trans Mount to frame - 372 code?

I believe the trapezoidal trans mount I'm looking at is from the center of my 1967 project. However, it is stamped with 3 72 (or 372). Could this be a broadcast code or a supplier number?

    Thanks

C3 - Looks more like 68 up part now.

The part I am looking at is probably support number 334943 for trans mount - 1968 and up.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Tom, if you're talking about the steel encased rubber cushion between the C3 transmission and mounting bracket, the PN is 3913498 in 70.

I don't see that part number (334943) in my Corvette parts book. Is it possible it's missing a digit?...six digit GM part numbers go pretty far back.

        334943 in Grp 4.010 pg. 4-12 Rev. 6-79

Chuck: Yep, it's the short number as shown above. Says 68-79 Support, Control lever and bracket. (I think the name is a hold over from 67, when the shifter was attached to this bracket.)

List price in 6-79 was $7.70

Send me a note for more of the story.

OK...Powerglide. In this case, looks like the early part number must have superceded a seven digit part number...the General must have scrounged around in their inventory for something to use as a replacement. Another possibility is 334943 was the production part number.

My part book is a 72 issue...at that time there were only four parts under Group 4.010...the service part description closest to the one you gave was for PN 3888263, 66-67 Corvette, "Bracket assy., cont. lever and braket adapter".

            OK...NOTJust Powerglide...

The exact same part number (3888263) is also listed for four speed transmission. Group 4.010 is apparently all shifter parts, and is described as "SUPPORT-BRACKET-EXTENSION-HOUSING-PLATE-SHROUD-TUBE ASSY., Gearshift Hand Lever". For the four speed transmission there are 13 Group 4.010 part numbers listed, and all of them seven digit numbers.

If Joe sees this thread, maybe he can tell you the history behind part number 334943 in 6-79. It's possible only the descriptions sound similar, and the two parts are completely different.

              Chuck,

I think Joe Lucia is on vacation.

The six digit part number system was just beginning to appear, again, in the 70's. Most likely just after your 1972 edition was printed.

              I see the 334943 in group 4.010 and it's usage is 68-70.
