I need to install a new pilot bushing and have purchased one from GM. Some say install dry, some say soak overnight in oil before installing. What is correct? Also, does the bushing install so it is flush with end of crank shaft? Any installation tips are appreciated. Thanks.

I can assure you that GM never soaked these bushings in oil before they were installed on crankshafts during the engine manufacturing process. So, I really don't think that you need to do it now. I apply a light application of light machine oil to the inner circumference of the bushing before installing the transmission.
The bushing does not seat flush with the crankshaft when installed. It will "bottom" before it reaches that point. Install the bushing only until it bottoms; DO NOT countinue to pound on it after that or you might damage or distort it. A old transmission input shaft makes a perfect installation tool.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1966-427 pilot bushing Check It
Thanks Joe & Phil. Just for the record and to let others know, the bushing I am using is GM part number 10125896 and it does not stick to a powerful speaker magnet. Appreciate your assistance.- Top
