I'm getting conflicting information regarding the paint finish on the steel reinforcement pieces that riveted to the underbody.
The J/G states that on St. Louis cars they were dipped in semi-gloss black and on A.O. Smith cars they were zinc chromate (the greenish paint in the picture).
This '65 is a St. Louis car and the seat reinforcement is clearly zinc chromate, the nut plate at the rear of the seat is plain steel (which the J/G says is correct) and the seat belt reinforcements (four at the seat belt attaching points) are rusted beyond identification and will be replaced.
Two questions; Paint the seat reinforcements green like we found them? What paint (if any) should the seat belt reinforcents get?
