68 Distributor Question

In reviewing some notes this evening, I find that my 68 327cid 350horsepower L79 distributor is numbered 1111477 and I had a notation in my file that this was the number used for second design of 1111438 but I can't remember where I got this information or how I came to make this note.
This distributor was in the car when I purchased it in 1972 so I think it was original since the car was too new to have the distributor replaced.
Can anyone shed light on this 1111477 number and confirm or dispute my notes as I am now second guessing myself? (It's tough to get old)

Yes, some sources do indicate that the GM #1111477 distributor was used for later 1968 L-79 applications. Other sources seem to "ignore" it. I can confirm, though, that such a distributor did exist (you know that since you have one) and that it definitely was a tach drive distributor. Curious thing is that while it was never available in SERVICE through the GM parts system, it once was available through the Delco parts system.

In your opinion, how would I go about defending this distributor to a judge if I ever had this car judged and they went by the book and said it shouls be a 1111438?

Date is 8 B 12 for February 12, 1968
My car was assembled May 10, 1968
