    windage tray 63=64

For 63-64 need to know the correct hardware used in securing the tray to the long studs. Need exact info such as the type of nuts, etc. Putting this question on for a friend as luckily my 63 is beyond that stage. Thanks again, John

Dr. Mike, IS the nut a lock nut or just the usual. That seemed to be the issue. But you would think that it a split lock was used then just a regular nut. Thanks, John

Be sure that you have the proper grade oil in your car for Florida. When they check the windage tray attachment, they will be doing a spectographic analysis of the oil

Dick, We in trouble for sure as pretty white car has semi-truck oil. CC say color of smoke out exhaust was pretty though. I have another one for your guys. At Marlborough my 63 FI car was running and a lot of guys were standing behind it and one said. Hey DeGregory whatta you burning in that thing. Nitro. I said no it has 100 low lead in it. Smelled sweet and burns clean. Car starts immediately. Still hear a lot of hype against the stuff but ignore it. Sorta like the windage tray answer I got. heee.
Gave up on you guys concerning Atwoods though. Question too tough for us old guys I guess. Tried twice and got a lot of good response though but none of it matched what I heard and saw on judge floor. Must be because in heaven there is no beer. John

lock nuts and a flat washer. split lock washers

have a tendency to break into 2 pieces so do not use them on the inside of a engine because the pieces can cause problems

              John,

For some reason I cannot get Duct tape to hold so I normally use bailing wire to hold the windage tray. A few turns around the main bolt before you snug it down will work.

Clem, I see a lot of good answers to my brillant question. It's a wonder some one didn't write in and so wind tray not used for racing. The flat washers seem to be a good idea though. Bailing wire ala Henry Ford not bad either. Getting good answers lately on dumb board difficult. Guess my answers stump the chumps. ARe you going to Old Towne in Jan. with your side kicks? Take care, John
