    C1 TH350 or 60's Powerglide

I have decided against fitting an orginal cast iron PowerGlide or a TH400 to my '59. Now the options being suggested over here are a TH350 or an early 60's (cast ali) PowerGlide. What do you all think? Your comments are really appreciated. Mark

Well, I can't help but wonder

why you are not going original, other than the weight of the PG. If that's the case, go with the aluminum PG, so you will at least have the function of the 2-speed, and the shifter.

    Where is "over here"?

      Re: C1 TH350 or 60's Powerglide

If you are going to actually drive and car and enjoy it on the road, long trips, I like the idea of the R200 overdive unit. My 85 Corvette coming off the freeway, not using the brakes to break the circuit on the torque converter, the car will stay on 4th overdrive and with the torque of my V8 the rpms are down to about 800, the car pulls very well with light throttle. Not using the brakes is what does not break the torque converter lock-up. If the original turbo 400 ever fails, I would sure consider the R200 as a replacement. With its 3:08 rear, wonder what the rpms would be at 75 mph?
