C2 Applying wheelwell Undercoat....

I am attempting to restore to factory appearance my front wheelwells. What undercoat is available that resembles the heavy appearance of original. I have both 3M and Permatex and they both are quite fine in appearance compared to the chunky original.

I also understand, black out (SEM Trim Black or Krylon 1613)follows the undercoat. Is there an adhesion issue when going over undercoat?

Jim, I found that the best product to use that is as close to original as you can get is a product made by NAPA #4514 Standard Undercoating (Asphalt Base). It comes in spray cans and easy to apply. It is asphalt based like the original and you can get that chunky texture by applying it heavy. Go into your local NAPA dealer and tell them you want a couple of cans of #4514.

Have you used this under paint as well? I am concerned about adhesion issues both to the underlying fiberglass but more importantly for the Krylon or Sem blackout over the asphalt based undercoat....
