    '70 LS-5 P/S box color

    Hello All,

Just wondering as I'm still waiting for the new '70 Judging manual, what color or finish would the power steering box be, black or natural cast?

I just got mine P/S box back from rebuilding and I'm about to install it, but want to know before I reinstall it.

    Thanking you in advance,
    Kurt

    Re: '70 LS-5 P/S box color

The 70-72 TIM&JG, 3rd edition sez: "Steering shaft is natural finish. Steering gear box is natural finish on earlier cars and semi-gloss black on later. (70??!! 70-72??!!) 1970s often have two yellow paint inspection marks. 1972 have the letters 'CM' stamped in yellow."

I believe the finish changed from natural to painted black in the 70 model year. My very late 70 was low gloss black. If you remember the original finish, just put it back like it was...you should be OK IMO.
