    Original 67 Frame Markings

A friend of mine pulled the body off his recent "Barn Find" 67 coupe. I looked over the chassis and found an interesting set of crayoned numbers. 8-12- # was located on the outside of the left rail where you would expect to see the shim marks. Any ideas? Car is a very early build vehicle. Also I could not find the VIN# above the left rear wheel. Thoughts? Chassis is original in every aspect. Al W.

Was there a body stencil still visible on the pass side right behind the pass door along the outside frame rail?

No Stencil numbers Tony, just a rusty solid frame. Rivets still in Ball Joints. No paint on Steering box and no yellow inspection paint on box. There were some shim slashes on this frame. Al W.

Allan. I bought a survivor 67 coupe in May of 2005. I got it from the second owner who lives in Mineola, TX. The owner parked the car in 1981 and there she stayed until the Spring of '05. When I brought it to Missouri, I pulled the body and was pleased to see all of the original markings on the chassis. The JG mentions that the steering box is painted but my original steering box was unpainted as the one you described. My car is one of the last: no. 20649 (built mid-June 67). I took some extensive photos of the breakdown process of my car during the body off resto process. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know. That's the great feature of this forum: members helping each other with restoration issues.

Thanks Tony! Your comment about your car being among the last built in 67 rang a bell in my head. My car, a 67 coupe is #20162. My brothers car is 20920. Now I need to see what the last car was. I'd like to see a few shots of your original frame as I'm just preparing my car for Flight judging. My email: awicklu@optonline.net If you can send me a couple I'd be grateful. Al W.
