Car Cover for '63 coupe w/precut for antenna

Does anyone know who would make a "real" CUSTOM car cover that would have the
cut and re-enforcement already made for the antenna on a stock '63 coupe?

I find it irritating that all the big manufacturers want me to spend AT LEAST
$150 on a perfectly good cover only to put a hole in it immediately to get it
    to fit.

Jack, Good question for sure. Typically the car covers come with a blow out patch and they tell you to cut your own hole. I will be watching your post to see if this cover exists as I would like to have a new 63 cover also with the hole in the right spot. Although I have another brainstorm. My antenna needs replaced as I got dinged on it as being an SR and I thought this would be the time to install a new car cover and then you could easily cut the hole in the perfect spot. John

Tracy, Agree with you. By the way UPS called and said they are sending me a complimentary brown vehicle in appreciation of all the free plugs. Expect yours to be arriving soon also. Any one on the DB going to the Corvette Expo don't forget to stop by and see me for a free cold beverage. I hear that the SE chapter needs judges for the NCRS judged show on Saturday also. Nows your chance Tracy and others to put all this good chatter we get from the gang to use on some nice Corvettes. Just this week alone I learned a lot about shipping and car covers. Can't imagine what's next though. John

I'll bet the free vehicle is brown because it's a real piece of crap. If that is the case, it wouldn't belong in your stable but would be right at home in mine.

Have fun at the meet. Wish I could go.

I saw a cover at Carlisle...the manufacturer is Vettes Under Cover...I was very impressed with the cover and the quality. I just ordered one for my 63 coupe and one for my 67 Roadster. I hope to receive them in the next week. Look them up at vettesundercover.com Hope this helps.

Just visited the web site again...check out the "Gallery" it has great pictures of the "button hole" for the antenna and pictures of the competitors covers...or the ones that we currently have on our cars...enjoy.

Henry, Never heard of "Vettes Under Cover" but will check them out. I have used at lot of Back East covers but Joe went out of business recently. He made a good cover that was wasn't made up of a lot of small pieces sewed together. But when all the el cheepo covers hit the market that must have hurt his business. Back East was just 10 miles from home here and we will miss him. California Car Cover is another good one and the owner is also a local boy. Junior DeFrank owns it and Joe used to work for him in CA. I believe that Junior and Joe started out together at Beverly Hills Automotive making car covers in the old days with Cohen and later Jr started CCC on his own. Junior and I used to do the ISCA show circuit together an eon ago. Hotrods back then. My 66 BB made a good tow vehicle as those truck engines could really pull a trailer with the 4:11. Also used a 68 BB to pull the trailers and remember the night in the wee hours of the morning coming from an ISCA show that the engine blew. John

This may be a long shot, but I had one made years ago for mine. The company was called Corvette Custom Covers by Verl, Custom tailor. He was a suit tailor that made car covers. I think he used to display at Bloomington. His number is on the front logo of my cover. It is 816-531-6200. Not sure if he even exists any more, but he made a great cover. Color is burgundy and it is made from flannel. Has a perfectly cut "button" hole for the antenna. Fits like a second skin on the car. Like I said, I've had it since about 1993. so I can't say if they are still available.

Vettes Under Cover == Verl Custom

The "Contact Us" link at vettesundercover.com indicates that the office phone
number will be answered with the name "Verl Custom".

They probably changed phone numbers over the years is my guess since the two
area codes are relatively close to one another (816 is in Missouri and 913 is
                      in Kansas).

Paragon sells several car covers with antenna sleeves. Here's an example: http://www.corvette-paragon.com/cata...2-97EC973E7DAB
