Hey Joe, thanks a lot. I have the 9 fin cover on an early vin '57 fuelie that is not cut out. I understand some early vin's went out that way. Is that correct?
Randy..I would expect that some or even many 57 fuelies went out without the top rib being machined for clearance..and I probably would not attempt to machine a valuable set of non machined 9 fin valve covers...unless I had a professional machine shop do it and had an original for comparison...or a rough one to test machine first.
To me the machined 9 fin valve covers are like double strike collector coins..
