    '59 dash tray

I've owned a '59 for about 4 years now and I'm attempting to put on the dash tray that goes under the assist bar on the passenger side. I obtained the kit from Corvette Central and I'm a bit confused about how to secure it in place. There are 3 pre-drilled holes in the dash itself, but it's unclear as to how to secure the tray on the sides. Additionally, the kit contains a number of screws, but no two are alike. Before I start destroying both the tray and my car, I was wondering if anyone has some advice. Better still, is there anyone in the area that has this era car so I could take a look at how the tray is bolted in? I live in Northbrook, Illinois - about 25 miles north of Chicago. Thanks for the help.

    Re: '59 dash tray

    Hi Mark

Yours should be like my 62. The package tray if new should have pre marked spots that you need to drill out which attaches to the heater cover. There is on each end of the package tray an L shape bracket. One attaches to the bottom part of the dash on the radio side of the tray and the other attaches to another L shaped bracket on the door side of the tray. Then install the heater cover. Look in the assembly manual if you have one. It will show you a better detail.
    Good luck.....John
