My body is nearly ready to set back on its chassis. I would rather use an alternate lifting means other than 6 friends setting her back on. There should be less of a chance of damaging the paint and better control. Anyway, can someone tell me what a 65 convertible with all wiring harness, windshield glass, dash and pads, heater box, glovebox, clock, tailights, headlights assy. and radio antennae will weigh? I thought the body would hit the scales around 400lbs.. Does anyone know. Thanks! Dick Gutman
Body off weight?

Re: Body off weight?
You are probably in the range of 800-1000#. I removed/installed my body trimmed out with a 1 ton hoist that didn't strain at all.
As a note: When I rigged the body for installation I gave it a front high "attitude". This allowed me to roll the chassis under the body and set the rear down first. By aligning the rear mounts first and getting the bolts started the body was captive to the frame and the rest of the alignment just fell in. The firewall was close but with the body captive it fit like a glove with no damage.

Re: Body off weight?
Dick,
I too used an engine hoist to lift the body onto the chassis. The additional weight of your windshield, dash and heater motor will move your center of gravity closer to the windshield frame. I still recommend having plenty of help to stabilize the body during the raise. It also doesn't hurt to use more than one set of straps to support the body.
