    Disconnect question

I know this has been discussed in the past, but I could not find it in the archives . . . so, would someone please indulge me. I don't see any real way to put a battery disconnect (screw type) on the negative post in my 66 (non AC) which is what the directions state. Is there any problem with it being used on the positve post?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Re: Disconnect question

As much uninsulated surface on the switch, there is a possibility of haveing a short circuit.

It appears from reading the postings that these disconnect switches have an area which is metal (the switch area)and hence would have 12V at that point.
Consider this, you reach in to turn battery off, at that monment you hav 12V on your body. At the same time another part of your body rubs against part of the body that is grounded, your body has completed the circuit thus allowing curent to run from the switch to ground via your body.
        Don't like that idea!

Thanks for the feedback. I played around with it and found a way to make it work. It just looks so strange the way the negative cable attaches to the disconnect switch tucked back in there. Anyway, thanks again.

              Re: Disconnect question

The poles are different sizes so the disconnect and cable will not fit the positive pole.
