    C-1 voltage reg numbers

Is the date coding on a C-1 (1960) voltage regulator supposed to be month-year or year-month for the two digit code? Thanks in advance for any help.

It would read 0C for March 1960 or 9H for August 1959.

I went through 2 NOS voltage regulators on my '56 in 6 months. Is there any reason why age might affect them?? Just wondering. I went to a Chevy dealer and got a new one and it is fine. Also had the same thing happen with 2 NOS fuel pumps.

There's no reason why truly new-old-stock (NOS) voltage regulators shouldn't wear like iron, Steve. What wears out are the solenoid contact points and the base was sealed, plus the cover was attached to the base via a rubber gasket. When I find used originals on scrap yard cars, they're often PRISTINE on the inside when the cover is removed despite rust/scale on the outer surfaces....
