Re: What is the story on this ebay item 1100439705
Terry,
This has the characteristics of a fraudulent ebay auction. Someone hijacks a valid ebay id and posts pictures found on the Internet. They probably will require you to send X thousand dollars immediately to a foreign address and you never see the car or your money again.

Re: Looks like a scam to me
This car (with the graphics) was on e-bay about a year ago. Fairly original with the "70's" graphics. The other part of the scam is that they hijack a seller's id. If you check that seller's feedback, you usually see they have a great reputation buying and selling buttons, or beads and bottle caps.

Re: Looks like a scam to me
I tried to contact him. The weird thing about the offer is that it is pre-approval. It might be someone's goofy way of listing it. But the price is a bit weird and the cash in hand transaction is also. Maybe the guy is a crack head and he flipped his wig. I really like the looks of the car. I wonder what the engine looks like.
I think I got an email back from someone that said they will contact me soon.
Hmmmm. I still think it is a scam but I will investigate out of curiosity.

Re: Looks like a scam to me
It's a scam. Don't even e-mail him. Next thing, they will hijack your ID. The reason they ask for "pre-approval" is so they can get your e-mail address and start a dialog about their sick father in Botswana who needs a gall bladder transplant. This item was probably posted from a cave in Afganistan.

Re: Looks like a scam to me
I report a couple of these every day to ebay - I have the link to report it saved in my favorites. Probably doesn't do much good, because ebay signons are getting stolen all the time with all the tricks. All the fake emails allegedly from Ebay that asks to confirm your login, fake second chance offers, etc.
The latest one I received (twice) is for items I was selling, I actually received the email through "my messages" in ebay, which is supposed to be safe:
"Please confirm if your item is the same with the item listed on: http://www.xs-bayisapi.go.ro/item9722396496.html"
When you cut and paste the link, then it prompts you to signon ebay. If you do, of course, your signon will get hijacked.- Top
